Perhaps you’ve been on holiday and you’ve seen a stage hypnotist making people do all sorts of hilarious stuff on stage… Maybe you’ve seen TV shows and films where people are hypnotised to forget their names, cluck like a chicken, or do all manner of weird and wonderful things… but how do they get them to do it?! Well, wonder no more! This stage hypnosis training course will teach you everything that you need to know in order to start performing comedy hypnosis (whether on the stage or on the street) quickly, easily and confidently!
Firstly, before you learn to use the stage & street hypnosis methods taught throughout this training video, Rory and Ash briefly cover some of the fundamental information you need to know in order to be a successful, safe and effective stage hypnotist… They cover the ‘5 parts of hypnosis’ as well as the differences between stage & street hypnosis, and who you should and shouldn’t hypnotise within your stage hypnosis shows and impromptu hypnosis demonstrations. Unusual responses and ‘abreactions’ are also covered, and you’ll learn how to safely and effectively deal with those (if they were to happen), as well as learning about getting insurance, filming your hypnosis shows/demos and general safety considerations. By learning all of this information first, it sets you up to perform your comedy hypnosis routines as effectively and professionally as possible.
This section of the stage hypnosis training course teaches you how to test a person’s hypnotic suggestibility by using some highly effective (but relatively quick and simple) ‘susceptibility tests’. Testing for suggestibility is an essential part of the stage/street hypnosis process, because they quickly let you know how well a volunteer will respond to your hypnotic suggestions. This gives you the opportunity to wean out those volunteers that are not as responsive, meaning you will improve your overall success. As well as that, suggestibility tests are great as an initial ‘warm up’ activity to use with volunteers, and they get people primed for participating in an entertaining stage hypnosis experience.
The hypnotic suggestibility tests covered on this training course include:
The magnetic fingers suggestibility test
The hand lock suggestibility test
The ‘hypno-force’ suggestibility test
There are many different ‘hypnosis induction’ techniques that you can use to hypnotise your volunteers. As a comedy hypnotist, it’s a good idea to have a number of different approaches to create the hypnotic state so that you can tailor your hypnosis process to the situation/volunteers. The inductions covered in this training course are
The progressive relaxation hypnotic induction
The hand drop hypnotic induction
The arm pull hypnotic induction
As well as the different types of hypnotic inductions that you’ll learn, Rory and Ash also cover hypnotising your subjects whilst they’re standing up (important for street hypnosis demonstrations) and how to safely lower your hypnotised subjects to the ground (if required).
Once you’ve hypnotised your subjects, you then need to intensify the state of hypnosis, or ‘deepen’ them. The deeper and more engaged in hypnosis that someone is, the more likely they are to respond well to your comedy hypnosis suggestions. As with hypnotic inductions, there are a range of different hypnotic deepening techniques that you can use to achieve this, some are verbal, others are physical in nature. The hypnotic deepening techniques that you’re going to learn during this stage hypnosis training course are:
The count down hypnotic deepener
The count down visualisation hypnotic deepener
The manipulating distractions hypnotic deepener
The fractionation (sleep click) hypnotic deepener
The arm drop hypnotic deepener
Before your stage hypnosis show (or street hypnosis demonstration), and before you start putting people into hypnosis, it’s really important that you know how to wake them up! By waking people up properly and effectively, you’re going to be leaving them feeling good (and the better they feel, the more likely they are to want to volunteer again, and recommend you to others). You will learn a couple of different ways to wake people up at the end of your hypnosis show/demo, as well as learning how to have a client open their eyes whilst remaining deeply hypnotised. This is integral for your show, especially if you’re going to have people moving around in hypnosis!
So, by this point you’ll have learned how to effectively hypnotise your stage hypnosis (or street hypnosis) volunteers, deepen the state of hypnosis and even how to wake them up. Next comes the ‘fun bit’, giving suggestions for them to do funny stuff! However, before explaining how to do various routines, Rory and Ash cover a number of other topics that will help you to ensure you’re working as safely and effectively as possible, such as:
The complete compliance command/super suggestion
Being specific and phrasing suggestions properly
Being understood by your hypnosis volunteers
Ensuring your suggestions are appropriate
Choosing appropriate routines for your audience
What happens if the hypnosis doesn’t work
Safety of volunteers during hypnosis routines
How to work with multiple hypnosis volunteers
The penultimate section of this online stage hypnosis training course focuses on hypnosis routines and skits, so entertaining things that you can do with your hypnotised volunteers. Ranging from simple to more complex and involving various types of hypnotic phenomena (catalepsy, amnesia, hallucinations), here are some of the routines that are covered:
The hot and cold routine
The eye to arm lock routine
The floor stick routine
The full body catalepsy routine
The hypno-statue routine
The hand stick routine
The good smell-bad smell routine
The number amnesia routine
The name amnesia routine
The musical instruments routine
The invisible hypnotist routine
The hypno-drunk routine
As well as in-hypnosis suggestions (i.e. during the show), Rory and Ash also cover ‘post-hypnotic suggestions’ (suggestions for after the volunteer is woken up), which are a great way to end your hypnosis show/demonstration. You’ll learn the following post-hypnotic suggestion routines:
The unable to speak routine
The ‘hypnotist is amazing!’ routine
The hypno-orgasm routine
As well as learning about hypnotic inductions, deepening techniques, suggestibility testing and a number of different awakening approaches, this training course finishes by including a whole host of useful comedy hypnosis tips that will help to improve your abilities, confidence and success, such as:
How to be funny
How to build rapport
How to build expectation/prestige
Eyes closed vs. eyes open hypnosis
Setting time constraints for street hypnosis
Why using the imagination is so important
Approaching people in the street – icebreakers
So, as you can see, this stage hypnosis 101 training course goes way beyond just teaching you a couple of inductions and some routines. All of the techniques in this video are known and used by stage & street hypnotists all over the world. Once you’re proficient with these methods, you will be able to hypnotise your friends, family and members of the public for entertainment purposes easily and confidently!
